What has happened to integrity?

Why is the truth no longer important?

People upload photoshopped and/or filtered imagery on their social media. They create a 'persona' and an imaginary lifestyle... all in pursuit of the dopamine hit from 'likes' and followers. Whole careers are being made out of selling a lie - making yourself a product, and whoring yourself out to whoever will pay your bills.

So much money is being made that no one really cares about the long-term effects on society. No one cares how fucked up it is that all this media we consume is FAKE.

As long as we are entertained in the moment... it makes us forget the harshness of reality... and escapism makes the world go 'round. The endless stream of vapid internet drama that is created purely for clicks and viewer counts. It doesn't stop, because people don't care that it's fake. People prefer a false reality over the truth. for a myriad of reasons.

Maybe life has always been this way, and it's just been made more transparent through the "magic" of the social media.

All I know...is the older I become, the less I want to participate. When I know how the story ends... what lies behind the mask...It's fucking boring. Disappointing.
