Commentary on Social Media

Don't buy into someone else's agony; It isn't yours.

One problem with social media is that people who dare to show their true selves are the ones who have the most to lose. People put on "performance art" instead of who they really are. Feigned outrage over mundane nonsense, tons of filters and makeup to alter their real appearances, whoring themselves out on video/streams for donations, social justice, politics & fake news, etc.

And if you don't participate in this herd mentality of "social media theatre", you will often be attacked and ridiculed. Ostracized. Banned or censored.
This is dysfunctional.

Society has become warped and unhealthy, with the invention of social media. What should have been a neutral and unbiased tool for people to communicate and share with each other - has become a corrupt AI-infested service that corporations, governments, and people themselves have used to negatively influence the world and each other.

Sure, you can try to ignore what is really happening behind the scenes, and focus on "positive vibes only" - but how does that fix the problem? People are so invested in their fake "social media" world that they don't want to come back down to Earth. Everyone wants more followers, more attention, more money. It's useful to see what's going on in the world, to some degree - but it's never worth having your life ruined over a tweet.

Sure, you've got to have thick skin on the internet, but that's no longer the point - it's about protecting your identity and your livelihood.
And your own sanity.
